How can I take off faster from a standstill?

I bought a manual car recently and I have been driving it for about a 1 week now and I am fairly comfortable with driving. I don’t stall and I can take off on hills. However when I take off at the lights or from a stop, I am slow to change from 1st to 2nd. It seems like it takes longer than any other gear change. This causes me to take off kind of slow. I change from 1st to 2nd at about 3000 rpm. Any ideas on how to take off faster?

With time you will learn more about your car after the first 3 months i had my car i never looked at the tac and just listen to the engine keep in the upper part of the RPMs and you will gain a little more speed with the gears but unless i know what the car is you never will know because all cars are treated different. I had a racing motor tranny and clutch in mine so those made all the difference.

I would just keep driving your car as you are for now till you learn a lot more about it. This will make all the difference later on when it comes to time you need it.

If you are thinking about racing i would not start, I dont know about where you live but here in Washington state if you get caught they can charge you with attempted murder. I know of one person that has been charged with that so it can happen. At least you can get reckless speeding and endangerment driving, both can land you in jail for along time and you will loss your Driver license. As for driving better i would just let the RPMs go alittle higher but not to much another 1k should help.
